Master Cutler Challenge Winners!

Back in February Nicholas Associates Group announced it was the proud sponsor of this years’ 2019 Master Cutler’s Challenge. Not only were we sponsors but we also organised a team of people to take on this challenge.

Our team, based across Rotherham and Sheffield took on the Master Cutler’s Challenge, which originally began in 2008 when Gordon Bridge invited businesses of the city region to transform a £50 investment into as much money for two local charities as possible. Businesses could use whatever means they wanted to do, within legal limits of course!

The chosen charities back in 2008 were St Luke’s Hospice and Rotherham Hospice and in 2019, they are the same.

Our Challenge team set themselves an ambitious target of raising £10,000 by the time the challenge closed on the 20th September 2019. We are extremely proud and thrilled to announce that our team smashed that target and raised a whopping £13,123.

The overall winners of this years’ Master Cutler’s Challenge were revealed last Friday at the end of challenge grand finale and we are pleased to announce that Nicholas Associates Group, MCC team were awarded 2019 overall winners!

Competing against 90 other businesses this is a fantastic achievement.

Since the beginning of the challenge back in February, the Nicholas Associates Group team have been raising money through quiz nights, dress down days, tuck shops and scratch cards, culminating in their final event ‘Big Band Ball’ held on Thursday 19th September at Hellaby Hall Hotel in Rotherham.

The ‘Big Band Ball’ was attended by a host of people from large corporate businesses to SME’s, who took part in a live auction and raffle with some fantastic prizes won.

Master Cutlers Challenge WinnersAmy Ewens, Business Manager & Joanna Saxon, Managing Consultant  (MCC team lead organisers) said, “Taking part in the Master Cutler Challenge 2019 has been a truly incredible and inspiring experience. When we took on the challenge back in February, we couldn’t anticipate that an original £50 investment could be turned into £13,123 and that we would go on to be crowned overall winners of the Master Cutler’s Challenge 2019.

None of this was achievable without the generosity and kindness of the local business community throughout South Yorkshire. We’ve been truly overwhelmed by the support we have received and we are proud that through that support, we have managed to make a significant contribution to Rotherham Hospice and St Luke’s Sheffield – two absolutely amazing local causes”

Nicholas Associates Groups’ mission is ‘to enable people to be their best’. We pride ourselves in giving back to the communities we work in and we are extremely proud of our South Yorkshire roots.

Master Cutler, Nick Cragg, is projecting around £160,000 has raised in total throughout the challenge. This funding will have a massive positive impact for both charities, as they need to raise around £6000 a day just to exist. Both play a vital role in our local communities and we are thrilled to be able to support them.

Our thanks go out to the following people, without whom this achievement would not have been possible.

Firstly to our wonderful guests at the ‘Big Band Ball’  CSP Systems Ltd, AESSEAL, etiCloud, STERLING COMMODITIES LIMITED, VULCAN SEALS INC, HSBC, Roofdec Ltd, Mark Tomlinson, Eurofix Installations and Compose IT – we couldn’t have done it without you all. Your support and generosity has been amazing. To the wonderful, Paul Pashley and his band for keeping us and our guest entertained and providing us with an unforgettable performance and many memories of a wonderful evening. A truly incredible set!

Finally, to Cobra Sport Exhausts, Cooper Parry IT Solutions and PoppyPride for their kind donations to our challenge.
