Our history

From its humble beginnings in a telephone box in Goole, qualified Civil Engineer Nick Cragg established Nicholas Associates in 1977 as a specialist recruitment agency supplying to the construction sector. With true entrepreneurial spirit and an eye for seizing opportunities, Nick grew the Group through the early 1980’s moving into the temporary labour supply market, with the launch of the Stafforce brand specialising in the food, manufacturing and industrial sectors.

Expansion and diversification into complementary talent management services helped to reinforce the provision of specialist recruitment solutions, supporting employers and candidates in the Construction, Engineering, Finance, Commercial and Executive Search sectors. The addition of the Apprentice Employment Agency, Software and Learning and Development Consultancy divisions enhanced the portfolio into a wider offering that added value to clients.

Nicholas Associates Group itself was established in early 2016, following a strategic plan setting out a long-term ambition to be a leading partner of choice for talent management solutions. The acquisitions of Ashley Kate HR and XL Graduate Placement (now Graduate Talent Solutions) cemented the holistic proposition to support organisations from Apprentice to Boardroom. With national coverage and eight complementary brands to support the proposition, the Group can now bring significant value to its clients, workers and candidates due to the breadth of its offer.
