Getting to Know You…

At Nicholas Associates Group we pride ourselves on being the market leading partner of choice for talent management solutions, from Apprentice to Boardroom.

To provide this range of services we have a team of expert individuals that work hard to support and fulfil these needs.

From their working responsibilities to their enjoyments outside of work, we had a chat with our Board of Directors to provide you with some insight into the leaders of our business asking, understanding what motivates them to keep driving forward and also what the day-to-day is really like for them.

Today we speak to  Paul Brammer,  Manager Director at Nicholas Associates Group. Having been with the business for 11 years he’s known for having a great presence in the office, both motivating everyone around him and supporting all of us with his expertise.

So, let’s get to know him a little better!

What does your job role entail?

“I’m responsible for the Apprentice Employment Agency brand, that supports Employers engaging in apprenticeship employment and Apprentices starting out in their career. I also lead our specialist permanent recruitment brands which include Nicholas Associates specialists in the Graduates, Engineering, Technical and Manufacturing and Construction markets, Ashley Kate specialists in HR and Finance and our executive search talent acquisition team from an operational perspective.

Included in my role, I have responsibilities for the Groups Marketing function and Internal Recruitment. Also, with respect to talent management, I support sales for our LMS and Skills profiling platform; Erango.

On top of my operational responsibilities, I am a statutory Board member and work alongside my Board colleagues in delivering our overall strategic plan.

What’s your favourite thing about working for Nicholas Associates Group?

“Whilst it sounds a bit of a cliché, I have to say my team and the people I work with every day is my favourite part of working for our Group, I’ve got a really really strong team who inspire me, they are amazing, As a business, we have a very strong Board which works well together, the people in the business are fantastic.

“I really enjoy working with all the teams, different characters, different responsibilities, and different types of roles.”

What’s one great thing you’ve learnt whilst working here?

“I’ve become more commercially aware, having been with the business for 11 years, prior to that, I worked in large organisations that operate differently. Transitioning into an out and out sales business has improved my commerciality, bringing the need to drive profit whilst still focussing on the most important piece of any business, its people”

When you are not working what are you doing?

“I am married and have two sons; Harry and Alfie and an extremely boisterous Cockerpoo Eric, who takes up much of my spare time.”

“For my sins, I go to football most weekends to support what many would say the most prestigious football team in the city of Sheffield, Sheffield Wednesday, but generally other than that spending time with my wife and family.

What advice would you give to your 17-year-old self with regards to career planning?

“Not to worry as much as I used to when I first started work, generally if you are consistent in doing the right things it will drive forward the results you want to achieve”

“So, I would say don’t worry as much as it’ll all be okay.”
